Day 18--Hello World.
As you can see the Kidz eyes are opening. It is fun to watch as they discover the world around them and learn that there is more than just the warmth and food their mother provides.
I observed several interacting with their littermates yesterday by chewing on another's ear or paw. Take notice of those nice short toe nails. I am blessed to have a wonderful daughter-in-law that is willing to come twice a week to trim nails. Now just picture trimming 176 tiny nails on wiggly squiggly puppies. It is important that each of you that are getting a puppy from this litter keep up with good toe nail trimming. We will do all we can to get the pups used to having their feet handled but it will be your job to continue the work. It is important for the development of their feet and legs that toe nails are not allowed to grow long. Holly found that the easiest yesterday was Eiven (pictured below) We believe that is because Gavin handles him so often.
Jewel is just bored with this whole picture taking thing. Thanks to granddaughter Emily for helping with picture taking yesterday.
One of these pups is not like the others. Can you SPOT him? As the puppies start interacting more and more I will be adding toys to their environment.
Hope continues to give her babies good care, though sometimes when all eleven are hungry at the same time and attack her like a hill of fire ants, she becomes a bit overwhelmed. As you can see here, they come at her from all angles.
