Day 20--
Today's post should be titled "Hello, who are you". Now that eyes are fully open it is fun to watch as they discover there is more to their world than Mommy's warmth and milk. The puppies all started interacting with one another with wrestling and chewing on each other.
Another exciting thing is signs of hearing. Though I haven't isolated them yet to be sure of hearing on each, I have caught many signs that the pups are beginning to respond to sound. Here it looks like Charlotte is telling Eiven a secret.
Time for a little rest and a hug between sisters.
It seems that in each litter there is one that does everything first. With this litter Bonnie seems to be the leader with everything. Yesterday she was the first to escape the puppy pen. I watched as she climbed up over and then slid down the ramp. She was very proud of herself. I have added an extra board now to prevent any escapees at night. I like for Hope to still be able to jump in with them at night, so at this point I can't close the ramp door. This isn't Bonnie but a cute picture anyway.
I am pleased to say that we did the last session of the Early Neurological Stimulations yesterday evening. Now a new chart will need to be made as I will be handling each puppy individually and with eleven puppies I don't want to miss anyone. I will be sure to handle these tiny puppy feet. I will also begin some startle/recovery work with them later in the week.
Another exciting moment yesterday was when I was watching them in their sleep, Eiven woke up, toddled over to the potty box, peed and then toddled back to the rest of the group. I was so pleased I would have given him a cookie if he was old enough to have one.

I suspect that some time this week I will be starting them on eating from a bowl also. I gave Hope her goat milk mixture this morning in the pen and a couple of the puppies came over and helped her.

Lest anyone sees the time of this post and thinks for one minute that I slept in---dream on. My internet was down this morning when I got up at 3:30 so I had to do other things while I waited for it to return.

  1. There is something about a close up of puppy feet that is so endearing. So pink & clean and unspoiled by the world.
