Day 34---Barriers and Problem solving
This little sweetheart is Atz Lee. He is a lovely liver boy that often gets missed because he is so undemanding. He loves to romp with his littermates and just seems happy to be alive.

I had been concerned about how I would get all of the Puppy Culture things for week four accomplished because of jury duty. I was thrilled when no one from yesterday's jury pool was even called from the room and we were all released by 11:00 yesterday morning. That gave me time to get started on our challenges for the week. I had already spent time at 4:00 A.M. stacking each of the eleven puppies on the grooming table for some fun table training. Our challenge yesterday was getting over barriers. HA! Do they know Dalmatians? That was a piece of cake. Here they are within seconds of placing a barrier.
Bonnie created her own challenge yesterday and got herself in a predicament. She was on the ramp and decided that climbing onto the cardboard box from there was a good idea. It was on its side so was very shaky, she then decided to climb from there to the tunnel and got stuck half way. She eventually climbed over the tunnel and rolled to the floor. Good problem solving Bonnie.
Jewel was a little less adventurous and just played with the tunnel ribbons.
Our next challenge was walking on bubble wrap. Oh what fun bubble wrap is. I finally had to remove it because they thought it tasted good.
I added some crinkly brown paper and a new box. More fun until they started ripping it to shreds.
Our next challenge was problem solving. I put up a barrier, placed each puppy individually behind that barrier and then placed a pan with venison on the other side. Look closely at this picture and you will see Eiven behind the barrier. Their job was to figure out how to get to the food. Some were quicker to figure this out than others but they were all successful
Here is Eiven after his success.
The suggestion is that after learning anything new, the puppies should rest because their brains need to process what they have learned. They had no trouble resting between learning sessions.

  1. These puppies will be ready for the world when they are old enough to leave you. How lucky the people are that get to take these babies home.
